Wine in Hungary – part one

So there’s more to Hungary than Budapest.  We loved the city; it’s awesome & a must see.  However, Hungary is a beautiful, lush, green country plentiful of long-running, family owned vineyards.

We were referred to Haraszti Csaladi Princeszet – a quaint winery & vineyard in Palkonya, by our friend & guide, Orsolya Morvai.

Haraszti Csaladi is a family owned & operated vineyard, producing mostly reds & red blends.

Lilla greeted us with a glass of Rosé & after getting acquainted, she led us (basket of wine in tow) to her family’s stunning Vineyard.

We crossed the railroad tracks on foot, then hopped in our van driving upwards, arriving to the vineyard in less than 5 minutes.

Once there, we opened our first bottle & admired our surroundings.

After a short walk through the vineyard, Lilla took us to her private oasis…

Amazing views of Palkonya from here.  It was so peaceful we didn’t want to leave!

But we couldn’t pass up checking out the wine cellar.

Lilla opened another bottle of wine & fed us home made meats & cheeses.  We stayed at the winery until sun down; chatting & drinking delicious wines.

We look forward to visiting again in the near future & highly recommend Haraszti Csaladi Princeszet to anyone visiting Hungary.  Definitely worth checking out.
